Role Background
We are looking for a senior in-house counsel to be responsible for all courier and employee related legal matters in a number of countries in the South region of Wolt that comprises various countries primarily in South Europe and Central Asia.
You will own the courier model compliance as well as day-to-day employment legal support across different business functions and multiple countries in your region. Thus, we are looking for a versatile and experienced employment law professional who has a solid background to manage a broad range of employment law topics, but who would also be willing to broaden his/her expertise to platform work to ensure that our growth is sustainable.
We’re primarily looking for the person to join our team at our offices in Athens, however other key Wolt locations in the region are not out of the question if our dream candidate is based elsewhere in the region.
What You’ll Be Doing
- You will be the main point of contact to our operational teams with any legal questions related to couriers in the South region.
- Together with our other in-house counsels dedicated to courier model compliance, you will be responsible for the development of and compliance with our courier model.
- You will also be the trusted partner for our People Team in all employment legal topics in Region south, providing employment legal advice on a broad range of employment related matters from day-to-day issues to wider matters such as diversity, health and safety, employee relations and HR privacy/data protection.
- Ensuring compliance with local laws, and managing risk in your area of expertise.
- Identifying proactively development possibilities relevant for our business be it ideas for different processes, documentation or for instance app development, as well as sharing global legal developments and other insights to internal stakeholders.
- You will analyze complicated legal challenges, “translate” their implications to non-legal stakeholders and work through practical solutions.
- You will manage litigations and regulatory proceedings, as they arise (using outside counsel, as needed)
- Using your strong expertise in employment laws and hopefully also other specific fields relevant for our business.
- Keeping yourself up to date on the industry and proactively take action and share knowledge and insights with other team members.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of legal experience as in-house counsel or from a law firm in an international setting.
- Master of Laws degree.
- Strong experience of advising on employment law related matters, including social benefits, tax and national insurance.
- Litigation experience is considered as a plus.
- Experience in working in close cooperation with internal and external legal teams and working on multiple tasks at the same time.
- Ability to effectively weigh risks and payoffs in a number of scenarios.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Solutions-driven can-do attitude is an absolute must.
- Quick thinking and the type of person who rolls up their sleeves and gets to work, no matter the task.
- Fluency in English. Greek language skills are great in this role and other languages are a plus.
- Willingness to travel.
