About the role

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Team Lead to join our Merchant Group. 

In this role you will build and lead our new Merchant Promotions team that builds a new product on a greenfield. The team will build a completely new way for our Merchants to run Merchandising and attract customers.

Your role as a leader for the team 

  • Business Outcomes: You own the results of your team and work closely with Product Management and Business teams in ensuring successful development and releases of this new Merchandising product
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: You collaborate fluently with other Engineering teams and Engineering Team Leads as well as stakeholders of all levels from Product, Business and Data to ensure successful delivery of your product
  • Reliability and Scalability: You will be working on some of the most central parts of our technical ecosystem and you have the skills and experience to ensure quality, reliability and stability of your team’s deliveries
  • Inspire & Enable: You lead with confidence, guiding your team through technical challenges while fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture. You drive the roadmap, and technological strategy for our new greenfield Merchandising initiative.
  • Mentorship & Growth: You mentor and support engineers through meaningful 1:1s, helping them set and achieve impactful goals.
  • Stakeholder Management: You facilitate alignment on expectations, timelines, and trade-offs—ensuring leadership and partners are aligned with your team’s work.

This role will be located in Helsinki.

What We’re Looking For

  • Leadership Experience: Proven experience leading a product engineering team, providing guidance, and fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Technical expertise: You are comfortable with building in different technologies such as mobile, web and backend, and while building your own code base also contributing to codebases owned by other teams. 
  • Industry Experience: previous experience on advertisement, promotion or offering domains and high scale environments
  • Technical Leadership & Communication: Ability to build shared understanding among stakeholders, align teams, and foster collaboration to deliver impactful, Consumer and Merchant focused experiences
  • Decision-Making in Ambiguity: Comfortable navigating uncertainty and making high-impact decisions in dynamic environments.
  • Talent Development: Experience hiring, mentoring, and developing engineers while fostering a culture of learning, growth, and continuous improvement in technical excellence. Ability to successfully work with Engineers of all 
  • Technical Expertise: We are thrilled if you bring expertise in mobile development. Ability to lead the work on mobile, backend and web is a must. Experience with microservices architecture, and cloud computing services such as AWS is valued.
  • Hands-On Leadership: Lead by example—actively engaging in commercial, product development and technical discussions and setting a high standard for quality within your team.
