As a leading tech company focussed on enabling our customers to love their purchases, we believe that what you buy is just as important as how you buy it and who you buy it from.
The Global Procurement team at Wolt is a strategic function. We’re responsible for identifying global suppliers who can meet our evolving needs, negotiating what we will buy from them and making sure things are delivered according to our expectations. We also manage our global inventory of courier partner and merchant gear and deal with any supply chain issues that may come up – all while spending our money in the most (fiscally, environmentally and socially) responsible way possible.
Doing procurement requires great negotiation skills, a keen mind for maths and knowledge about global shipping routes and transport types. But above all else, a successful procurement person at Wolt is someone who can understand the needs of our business and help our internal customers find the best solutions today, and for the long term.
Our core focuses
By centralizing our spending through one core team, we can be stronger and better together as a business. This means setting up global contracts for key goods and services that our more than 27 markets can use, and helping them to focus on doing what they do best: creating an amazing experience for our customers.
Behind every great operation is an even greater supply chain. We look near and far to ensure all products that are needed for our daily operations are well stocked in our warehouses and are ready to be distributed to our 27 markets.
Every dollar we spend is an opportunity for us to do the right thing for our business, the environment and the communities we work with. When combined, all of that money means we can do big things. We protect the organisation from risks in our supply chain, find more efficient ways to ship our goods and also work with our suppliers to innovate and make sustainable products the default option.
Our colleagues need comfortable, diverse and inclusive spaces to work in and our inventoried products (such as courier partner gear) need safe and secure locations to be stored in. That’s where we come in – finding the best locations and lease contracts to ensure it’s a win-win for everyone.
A world-class service also comes with an unwavering focus on quality. We’re responsible for building and managing a robust Quality Assurance process for everything we buy – like courier partner gear, merchant support items and warehouse equipment for Wolt Market stores – and gradually working with our suppliers to improve their performance over time.
What we’re working on
At Wolt, Sustainability is a journey, not a destination. We’re on a mission to make cities better places to live and that means taking care of our environmental footprint as well as creating positive impacts on society.
In early 2022, we kicked off the development of our global sustainability strategy by spending time talking to our associates, customers, courier partners and merchants to understand what’s important to them and where we can make progress. We are now consolidating this feedback into a solid strategy and action plan. Learn more here.
We have also made a conscious effort to offset all carbon emissions from our courier partner deliveries since the very beginning. We are working on several innovative programmes to minimize waste from our operations by responsibly recycling courier gear, piloting reusable and take-back packaging programmes, actively managing supply chain risks and giving back to local communities wherever we can.
Why choose Procurement at Wolt
Fast and furious
We may be a big organisation today but we haven’t lost our nimble and can-do start-up attitude or culture. If you’re looking for a place to build amazing things without getting bogged down in bureaucracy, Wolt might just be the place for you.
We love independence and autonomy
We hire the best, and you do the rest. Being in a team that’s heavily connected with several parts of the business, we emphasise building processes and systems that can be used across the board. We give our people the freedom to test and fail fast in order to build, learn and scale.
Global perspective with local flavours
We work with some of the biggest global players to source the best gear, but we never lose focus on how we can support our 27 markets around the world with their evolving needs. This enables us to explore and bring great ideas from one local city to all of our markets and constantly improve.
Sustainability and innovation at the heart of what we do
Whether we’re optimising our logistics or researching new goods or services to support our operations, we aim to implement sustainable and innovative solutions wherever we can. Ask us about our most recent initiative to pilot last mile direct delivery of gear to Courier Partners.
