The Head of Global Payroll Compliance enables our payroll operations teams to pay our global teammates accurately and on time every pay cycle. This role owns and ensures we are executing compliantly and protecting our license to operate, but also so much more.
As a brand-new role in our team, this position requires someone eager and proven capable of building a new vertical from the ground up, designing the strategic vision on how we best build and deliver our payroll compliance framework. The role will lead to how the payroll function decides Woltโs position for employer reporting and withholding obligations.
Wolt continues to grow at pace with our expansions in existing and new geographies, and new business verticals. The new Head of Global Payroll Compliance must ensure we scale up compliantly with the business, delivering best-in-class compliance management approaches to safely enable this fast growth.

You will be responsible for contributing to what modern global payroll looks like and delivering a world-class payroll experience to all of our teammates.
What you will be doing:
- Embrace the challenge of building a brand-new global Payroll Compliance vertical within the Wolt Payroll function.
- Design our global payroll compliance framework across our 30+ Geographies to enable our operations team to successfully deliver payroll services and allow for continued business growth at pace.
- Ensure that payroll understands and can guide the business on all our employer reporting and taxable items
- Act as the global process owner on all items that require statutory withholding, reporting, and payments, as well as minimum wage reporting, CBAs and local labour law compliance and regulations, and any employer payroll reporting requirements
- Act as Woltโs primary contact with any external regulator for Payroll items and support on any inquiries and audits from them
- Be the process owner on how we discover, track to resolution and future mitigate any risks, covering all inputs to payroll, including collaboration with cross functional teammates
- Create a robust framework around how we prioritise our compliance risks and payroll processes, including our highly complex stock-based compensation transactions and global mobility population
- Create a Learning and Development program that upskills teammates but with a view of continuous learning in place for ongoing development
- Work seamlessly with other teams to ensure compliance with other regulations such as GDPR and data security and privacy compliance
- As a member of the Woltโs Risk and Governance committee, actively participate in Wolt wide risk management and reduction efforts
Our humble expectations
- Minimum 6 years of experience in Payroll Compliance or a related field, with proven leadership of a team or vertical.
- Experience in dynamic, fast-paced, and constantly changing environments, ideally in the technology sector.
- Proven capability of building and developing a new vertical from scratch and designing strategic visions for scalable payroll global compliance.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with internal teams, and senior leadership effectively, fostering strong relationships, and facilitating collaborative efforts.
- Commitment to continuous improvement, streamlining processes, standardising where it makes sense, and automating services using the latest technologies.
