Role background
Wolt is a Finnish technology company and we’re best known for our delivery platform. We’ve grown significantly in the last years, expanding our operations from just four countries across the Nordics, to 28 countries across Europe and Asia today. Since June 2022, Wolt has been a part of US stock-listed company DoorDash.
Our Finance team has played a key role in this journey - supporting our global operations from their central Helsinki hub has been no easy feat, but this group of dedicated and motivated professionals have made it seem effortless!
As we continue to scale, we’re now looking for a VAT Manager to join our team. The position will focus on VAT advisory, tax audit and project work. You will work on many different types of projects and have regular interaction with the wider finance, business and technology teams as you help them with any VAT-related questions. We foresee you being located in Helsinki, Finland in our Wolt HQ.
What makes the Finance team so special is our ‘service first’ approach to the job - we enjoy creating strong communication loops with the wider business, so that bottlenecks are minimised and that things get done quickly and efficiently.
Everybody is accountable for their own workload and takes pride in being meticulous and precise. We also enjoy learning and developing as we go - it’s important that you share this approach! :)
What you’ll be doing
- Acting as the first point of contact for VAT related queries from different team, including finance, technology and business teams
- Continuously reviewing the setup of VAT rates on products sold through our platform
- Supporting tax audits of group companies
- Providing expertise and oversight of ad hoc compliance related matters and supporting the finance team members responsible for providing the relevant VAT data to the tax compliance outsourcing partner
- Looking for improvement opportunities in terms of processes and controls to improve efficiency while ensuring compliance with local regulations
- Ensuring compliance with local rules and regulations
- Contributing to indirect tax awareness within Wolt team
Our humble expectations
- Solid experience in working with VAT in either the Big 4 or a multinational company
- Sound knowledge of indirect tax legislations and practices globally
- Previous experience with Netsuite is a plus
- The Wolt usuals: Ability and passion to work autonomously in a fast-moving international environment, strong relationship building and customer service mindset, and a true growth mindset to consistently learn and develop skills.
