The Group QA Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the quality of software delivery across several distinct software engineering teams working in the courier domain. This is a hands-on leadership position that requires technical expertise, a strategic mindset, and the ability to drive high-quality software delivery practices across a wide range of projects.
You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining automated testing frameworks, test strategies, and quality standards, ensuring the delivery of high-quality projects and experiments in our courier application that delight our couriers, help drive quality for our customers, and fulfill regulatory requirements.
In this position, you work closely with the leaders in the group from product management, engineering, design and analytics as well as the group stakeholders.
- Lead Quality Strategy: Work with the engineering leaders to implement the overall quality assurance strategy for the organization, ensuring that all software products meet high-quality standards.
- Oversee Test Automation: Drive the development, maintenance, and scaling of test automation frameworks and practices across multiple teams. Ensure automated tests are comprehensive, reusable, and align with business goals.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, product management, and other stakeholders to ensure that quality is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle, from requirement gathering to software reaching maturity in production.
- End-to-End Quality Oversight: Work with teams to ensure comprehensive testing coverage, from unit tests and integration tests to end-to-end system tests, across all software projects. Manage test environments, tools, and data to ensure testing fidelity.
- Lead and Mentor: Manage and mentor engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement but also other discipline when need be, for example, supporting initiatives to improve collaboration on design and requirement quality.
- Quality Metrics and Reporting: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of the software process and its quality checks. Provide regular updates to senior management on quality and delivery progress.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate quality risks early in the development cycle. Develop proactive measures to address potential issues, especially in a regulated fintech environment.
- Continuous Improvement: Advocate for the continuous improvement of quality practices, methodologies, and tools, staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that software quality practices are aligned with industry regulations and compliance standards relevant to fintech, such as PCI-DSS, GDPR, and others.
This role can be based in all of our tech hubs in Helsinki, Stockholm, Berlin or Tallinn. This can vary depending on the exact team and their main location. You can choose whether you want to work from home, from the office or hybrid.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in software testing, with at least 1 year in a leadership role, ideally working closely with a mobile application team.
- Extensive experience with test automation, CI/CD, and quality practices in agile development environments.
- Proven track record of managing cross-functional teams and driving quality initiatives at scale.
Technical skills
- Strong proficiency in test automation frameworks and tools (e.g. Maestro, Playwright, Espresso, XCUITest, Jest, etc.).
- In-depth knowledge of test strategies, including unit testing, integration testing, API testing, load and performance testing, and end-to-end system testing.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions or CircleCI).
- Understanding of security, compliance, and regulatory requirements within GDPR and privacy space.
