The Payroll Controllership Manager enables our payroll operations teams to pay our global teammates accurately and on time every pay cycle. This role owns and ensures we are executing our payroll delivery to the highest level of controllership to protect our license to operate and ensure we are audit ready.
As a brand-new role in our team, this position will report to the Head of Payroll Compliance and requires someone with the energy and desire to design and build our new controls framework, with a passion for innovation to implement new and evolving best practices in this space to meet our complex landscape,
Wolt continues to grow at pace with our expansions in existing and new geographies, and new business verticals. The new Payroll Controllership Manager must ensure we scale up our approaches to controllership with the business, delivering best-in-class controllership management approaches to safely enable this fast growth.

What you’ll be doing
- Embrace the challenge of building what great looks like for this brand-new role.
- Partner with the Internal Controls team to design our global payroll controls framework across our 30+ Geographies to enable our operations team to successfully deliver payroll services and allow for continued business growth at pace.
- Create a robust framework around how we meet SOX compliance requirements.
- Act as the global process owner for our operational controls framework that includes, operational controls, workflow checklists, process documentation, escalation matrix, as well as our approaches to segregation of duty, access rights, and management monitoring.
- Act as Wolt payroll's primary contact for the Wolt Internal Audit team and any global external audit items, and support the payroll team on any country level inquiries and audits.
- Design our global Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plans
- Be the process owner on how we discover, track to resolution and future mitigate any controllership risks, covering all inputs to payroll, including collaboration with cross functional teammates to map the E2E payroll process to identify control gaps
- Work with a continuous improvement mindset, and improve our levels of controllership through automation
- Create and execute a Learning and Development program that upskills teammates but with a view of continuous learning in place for ongoing development
- Partner with Accounting to build best practice process for how we report and reconcile the payroll general ledger P&L and BS accounts
- Minimum 4 years of experience in Payroll Controllership or a related field, with proven leadership of a team or vertical.
- Experience in dynamic, fast-paced, and constantly changing environments, ideally in the technology sector.
- Proven capability of building and developing existing and new processes for scalable payroll global operations.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with internal teams, and senior leadership effectively, fostering strong relationships, and facilitating collaborative efforts.
- Commitment to continuous improvement, streamlining processes, standardising where it makes sense, and automating services using the latest technologies.
