About Wolt
At Wolt, we create technology that brings joy, simplicity and earnings to the neighborhoods of the world. In 2014 we started with delivery of restaurant food. Now we’re building the delivery of (almost) everything and you’ll find us in over 500 cities in 30 countries around the world. In 2022 we joined forces with DoorDash and together we keep on dreaming big and expanding across the globe.
Working at Wolt isn’t always easy, but it’s definitely exciting. Here you’ll learn more, build more, and ship more than in most other companies. You’ll be challenged a lot, but also have a lot of fun on the way. So, if you’re a self-starter with drive and entrepreneurial spirit, this could be the ride of your life.
About the Team
As Wolt continues to grow its global presence, the scale and complexity of our backend systems grow with it. With hundreds of microservices powering everything from order placement to courier logistics, the Observability & Test Platform team plays a critical role in helping engineers build and ship reliable, high-quality systems quickly and confidently.
Our mission is to enable Wolt engineers to move faster with greater confidence - by delivering smart testing frameworks that catch bugs and performance bottlenecks early, developer-friendly tools that integrate seamlessly into daily workflows, and a Kotlin-powered microservice for generating realistic test data to support complex test scenarios with ease. 🚀
We're also partnering closely with DoorDash to co-develop a next-generation testing platform that enhances testability, observability, and operational efficiency across both companies.
What you'll be doing
As a Software Engineer on the Observability & Test Platform team, you'll design and build the core infrastructure and tooling that power Wolt's internal testing capabilities. From foundational test frameworks and performance testing tools to intuitive developer APIs and libraries, your work will make it easier and faster for engineers across the whole engineering department to test confidently, debug effectively, and ship quality software at scale.
You’ll also play a key role in maintaining and evolving in-house platforms such as:
- Our end-to-end API testing framework
- Load and performance testing infrastructure
- A microservice for generating realistic, dynamic test data
- Reporting and traceability systems for test result visibility
You’ll collaborate across engineering - from product teams and SREs to QA and platform leads - to understand real-world challenges and shape solutions that have a wide-reaching impact.
Who You Will Work With
You'll partner closely with:
- Backend engineers building microservices across the product
- SREs and QA engineers ensure system reliability and test coverage
- Team leads and platform teams driving architecture and tooling direction
- DoorDash engineers to align on unified tooling for the next-generation platform
You’ll Thrive in This Role If You...
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and developer tools that empower Wolt engineers to easily run functional and performance tests - with smooth access to reports, logs, and traces for rapid debugging.
- Take full ownership of key initiatives that improve the quality, efficiency, and reliability of our internal testing platforms.
- Are motivated by solving complex, cross-cutting technical problems that impact hundreds of engineers.
- Care deeply about developer experience, and consistently seek to improve it with automation, clean APIs, great documentation, and smart defaults.
- Love working in an environment where collaboration, impact, and growth go hand in hand.
Our humble expectations
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and hands-on experience with distributed systems at scale, including reliability, scalability, and fault tolerance.
- Proficiency in Go and a track record of building production-grade backend services or internal platforms.
- Good understanding of Kotlin
- Experience working in Kubernetes-based, cloud-native environments, including deploying and scaling containerized services.
- A product mindset - you think of the internal engineers as your customers, and aim to build tools they’ll love.
- A bias toward automation over toil, and prefer solving systemic problems with thoughtful software.
- Great communication skills - you write, document, and explain things well.
Bonus Points (Nice to Have)
- Experience with OpenTelemetry or similar observability frameworks at scale
- Hands-on work with performance and load testing, including traffic simulation and system profiling
- Familiarity with databases like PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra, especially around performance and testing considerations
Why Join Us
