About Wolt
At Wolt, we create technology that brings joy, simplicity and earnings to the neighborhoods of the world. In 2014 we started with delivery of restaurant food. Now we’re building the delivery of (almost) everything and you’ll find us in over 500 cities in 30 countries around the world. In 2022 we joined forces with DoorDash and together we keep on dreaming big and expanding across the globe.
Working at Wolt isn’t always easy, but it’s definitely exciting. Here you’ll learn more, build more, and ship more than in most other companies. You’ll be challenged a lot, but also have a lot of fun on the way. So, if you’re a self-starter with drive and entrepreneurial spirit, this could be the ride of your life.
We have an exciting opportunity for an engineering team lead to join our ranks building a bigger and better Wolt. We’re currently on the lookout for an Engineering Team Lead, to join our Merchant Payouts team.
The Fintech group as a whole consists of 12 different teams, building financial services used by our Couriers, Merchants and Customers. Those financial services cover a wide range of functionalities, including various payment methods, Invoicing, Anti-Money Laundering processes, Payouts, Cash advances and User Interfaces for a varying group of users who manage all things finance.
What you will do
As an Engineering Team Lead, you’ll ensure we do the right things in the right way, acting as a facilitator and striving to make the complex things simple. You’ll see it as your biggest mission to cultivate personal growth of your team members and serve as a servant leader by truly getting to know each team member, having regular 1on1s with feedback, and facilitating goal-setting.
You’ll also act as an enabler for the daily and weekly practices and do whatever is needed to help the team succeed. As we work in a highly ownership-driven environment, it will often mean taking a step back and giving autonomy to the team, engaging with stakeholders and partners; on other occasions, you may contribute hands-on if you want and give your guidance
You ensure world class engineering practices and raise ambition level while working in a sustainable way in a psychologically safe environment. We’d expect you to know well when to apply which approach.
Our humble expectations
- You know what it takes to develop top-quality software, take care of people and achieve ambitious goals together.
- You come with previous experience in a highly regulated environment, preferably within the FinTech domain.
- You'll be an inspirer, facilitator and enabler for the team to do what they do best by making personal development plans, hosting regular 1on1s and taking part in recruitment.
- You're not afraid to step into action when needed, and most of the time, you are also ready to step back and let the team do its magic.
- We expect you to be a good communicator, willing to serve people outside of your team and liaise with senior stakeholders.
- You’re a product-oriented and proactive problem solver willing to bring up issues in a constructive manner to the team and the whole Wolt Product team.
- The essential tasks in this role are facilitation, communication, helping high performing engineers to focus and bringing them context. But if you are one of those unicorns with leadership abilities & development skills, there could be room for hands-on contribution as well!
- Our teams work with e.g. Kotlin, Go, TypeScript, React, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Kafka, GitHub Actions, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, DataDog, Looker so we also value skills with any of these.
