About Wolt

At Wolt, we create technology that brings joy, simplicity and earnings to the neighborhoods of the world. In 2014 we started with delivery of restaurant food. Now we’re building the delivery of (almost) everything and you’ll find us in over 500 cities in 30 countries around the world. In 2022 we joined forces with DoorDash and together we keep on dreaming big and expanding across the globe.

Working at Wolt isn’t always easy, but it’s definitely exciting. Here you’ll learn more, build more, and ship more than in most other companies. You’ll be challenged a lot, but also have a lot of fun on the way. So, if you’re a self-starter with drive and entrepreneurial spirit, this could be the ride of your life.

Wolt is looking for two talented Android Engineers to join our team! If you’re passionate about building high-quality mobile experiences in Kotlin, we have two exciting opportunities:

  • Senior Android Engineer – Join our Merchant Group, be part of an ambitious new initiative that will redefine how our merchants operate across both physical and virtual worlds
  • Android Engineer – Be part of our Autonomous Delivery Team in a Courier Group, innovating the delivery experience for our customers.

Senior Android Engineer, Merchant Group

Be part of an ambitious new initiative that will redefine how our merchants operate across both physical and virtual worlds. As a senior contributor, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the overall architecture and building a modern Android app that leverages existing technology assets while also creating new, innovative features. You’ll have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge tools and frameworks, balancing the need for new development with the practicalities of integrating with established systems.

You’ll enjoy a high level of autonomy, leading architecture decisions, technology choices, and product direction. This is more than just coding—it’s about guiding complex challenges and crafting a seamless experience for merchants, redefining their daily operations. You’ll need to be comfortable working with what’s already in place, as well as identifying where you can introduce new, forward-looking solutions.

Your role will require an ability to handle ambiguity and rapid changes while maintaining a focus on quality and high performance. This is a unique opportunity to work on a new product that will significantly impact how merchants operate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership in architecting and building key components of a modern Android application, leveraging both existing technology assets and new tools.
  • Set architecture decisions, influence technology stack selection, and help steer overall product direction.
  • Collaborate closely with product, design, and backend teams to shape features and user experiences.
  • Implement high-quality, scalable code while maintaining performance and security standards.
  • Rapidly iterate and adapt to evolving requirements and ambiguous contexts.
  • Continuously refine the app’s user experience to support and enhance merchants’ daily operations.
  • Drive innovation and establish best practices for the team.
  • Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.

📍This role can be based in one of our tech hubs in Helsinki, Stockholm or Tallinn.

Qualifications

  • Extensive Android development experience, with a solid grasp of Kotlin and the Android SDK.
  • Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose and modern Android app architectures (e.g., MVVM, MVI).
  • Experience with UI/UX principles, including building polished, accessible interfaces aligned with Design guidelines.
  • A demonstrated track record of working in a fast-paced environment with changing requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead technical decisions with a high degree of autonomy and handle ambiguity effectively.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills to work seamlessly with team members and stakeholders.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Interest or foundational experience in Golang or Kotlin backend development.
  • Exposure to Flutter framework to bring fresh perspectives to the mobile development process.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to the US for in-person team collaboration.
  • Previous experience in start-up environments or working on early-stage products, demonstrating adaptability and entrepreneurial mindset.
