Today, we're excited to introduce you to PJ, a valued member of the Wolt team who joined us in May 2023. PJ's unique perspective adds depth to our understanding of what it's like to be a part of the Wolt team and how personal and professional growth are an integral part of our shared adventure. We're eager to dive into PJ's experiences and glean insights as he takes us through his journey at Wolt.

Hi PJ! 👋 How are you today?

I'm doing well! Just spending some quality time with my cat, Ziti, so no complaints here.

Could you tell us a bit about yourself and your journey at Wolt thus far?

I'm PJ, originally hailing from the US (born and raised in Michigan, the state that looks like a mitten). I recently joined Wolt in May 2023 after spending around four years working with DoorDash in California.

My time at Wolt has been quite a whirlwind, but in a very positive way. I've had the opportunity to meet and collaborate with some fantastic individuals from various teams within both DoorDash and Wolt. The synergy between our cultures and the exceptional people in both organizations have made this experience truly enjoyable.

So what exactly inspired your decision to become a part of the Wolt team?

A major source of motivation for me was the growth opportunities that Wolt offers. There was a chance to contribute to the development of our revenue team, which was a new and exciting challenge that promised professional growth. I'm driven by tackling new problems, and this opportunity was simply too enticing to pass up.

How do you typically spend your day, or what does an average day look like for you?

Most days are filled with meetings involving team members and cross-functional colleagues from Product and Analytics. I try to carve out a few hours in my day for uninterrupted personal work blocks, checking emails, or grabbing a meal or working out. However, this routine frequently changes, so no two days are alike. The ever-present new challenges keep the job interesting.

What do you find to be the most enjoyable aspect of your role?

This is a tough question because there isn't just one best thing. If I had to highlight a few aspects that make this job great, they would be (in no particular order):

1. The people - we have incredibly intelligent and talented individuals at the company, most of whom know how to have fun,

2. The business's growth trajectory - our rapid expansion means there are countless new ideas and strategic solutions to ensure we remain on the right path, and

3. The culture - closely tied to great people, it's the infectious culture that emerges when you have a community like we do at Wolt. Everyone cares deeply about each other and excelling at their work while supporting the business's growth.

How does Wolt contribute to your professional and personal development?

For me, it all comes down to the relationships I've built with my manager and team members. Both personally and professionally, I feel that I have the freedom to be myself and chart my own strategic direction for the team. This level of autonomy wouldn't be possible without strong relationships with those around me. They trust me to make the best decisions for the team.

Lastly, do you have any advice for prospective candidates?

Stay curious and never stop asking questions – learning is a continuous journey, regardless of your level. Also, maintain a positive attitude – even when things aren't going as planned, there's a lesson to be learned, and that's how you grow as a professional. By focusing on the positive aspects, you can uplift yourself and navigate through challenging times.
