At DoorDash, AI is becoming a new baseline in how we operate. Being fluent in AI doesn’t mean building models or knowing every tool; it means using AI intentionally, effectively, and responsibly to drive better decisions, faster execution, and scalable impact.
Our Stance on AI and Interviewing:
At DoorDash, innovation is how we operate. We view AI as a way to move faster and think bigger, and we welcome candidates who do the same. We believe AI can support your preparation and enhance your overall candidate journey while not replacing authenticity, ownership, or judgment. At the end of the day, the interview process is intended to showcase what you can contribute and how you differentiate yourself—we want to hear your own insights, voice, and values.
General Guidelines:
Always represent your work and experiences truthfully.
Do not use AI during live interviews unless your interviewer specifically invites you to do so. If you require any accommodations during the hiring process, please let us know*.
Interviewers may ask about how you’ve used AI in your preparation. They are not required to allow AI use during live interviews unless previously approved.
If, after review and discussion, we determine AI was used in a way that misrepresented your skills used outside of these parameters without disclosure or citation, your candidacy may be disqualified.
*Accommodations: If you require AI or recording tools as an accommodation, please let your recruiter know during your first conversation with them. They will document it in your application so the accommodation is respected consistently throughout the process. This information will be kept confidential, in accordance with DoorDash/Wolt HR privacy statements, and will only be used to ensure a fair interview experience. Sharing this will not affect your evaluation or chances of success in any way. Please note that you are not required to disclose any disability status or provide any medical details to us.
Using AI During the Interview Process Below are some ways to leverage AI thoughtfully throughout the DoorDash interview process, as well as when we expect you to engage without its assistance.
Interview Stage | Ways to Leverage AI |
Resume Building & Application Materials | Your resume should reflect your own story and experience. AI can help polish how you present it, but it must remain true to you.
Do Use AI to improve clarity, grammar, formatting, or structure. Let AI suggest better ways to highlight your real experiences. Don’t Add jobs, skills, or experiences that are not true. Let AI write your story for you in a way that doesn’t sound like you. |
Preparation & Research | AI is a useful partner for getting ready. It can help you practice, brainstorm, and research, but your preparation should still reflect your own thinking.
Do Use AI to practice interview questions, organize ideas, or learn about the company. Explore AI-generated tips for structuring responses. Don’t Memorize or copy AI answers for use in the live interview. Rely on AI as your sole preparation method. |
Take Home Assessment / Live Working Sessions | These exercises are designed to showcase your skills and thinking. Depending on the assignment, you may be prohibited from using AI. In some cases, you may be encouraged to use it, but remember it should never replace your original thinking.
Do Read the assignment instructions carefully, and if unclear, ask your recruiter if AI use is permitted. Solve the main problem on your own and, if permitted, use AI to support your work (e.g., structure ideas, refine wording, check clarity). Submit work that reflects your own conclusions, and be prepared to explain your process and how you used AI (if at all). Don’t Submit work created or solved entirely by AI. Copy & paste AI-generated solutions or use AI in ways that violate the instructions. |
Live Interviews (phone, video, and in-person) | Interviews are about your own skills, knowledge, and judgment. This is your chance to show who you are without relying on tools.
Do Be yourself and share your own ideas, examples, and experiences. If you need an AI or recording tool as an accommodation, tell your recruiter early so it’s noted. Don’t Use AI, transcription, or recording tools during interviews unless approved or invited to do so. Let AI generate or influence your answers in real time. |
