Role Background

Germany is Wolt’s biggest growth market with constant and rapid geo as well as business expansions on a hyper growth level. As a member of the German local Marketing Team, the Retention Marketing Lead will own strategy, testing, and operations of marketing levers aimed to improve the Wolt customer experience. . You will build the team from the ground up that owns CRM & referral channels, in app placements and content, and conversion & retention testing.  Retention marketing scope includes our more established restaurant business as well as growing our Wolt+ subscription model and retail/grocery categories, all while analyzing user behavior to direct our marketing initiatives.

What you'll be doing

1. CRM (Customer Relationship Management):

  • Develop local strategies to consistently strengthen retained user connections in Germany.

  • Oversee end-to-end CRM activities, including sign-ups, opt-in rate optimization, newsletter campaigns, push notifications, and in-app pop-ups, and their performance.

  • Enhance success of global, cross-country campaigns in Germany supporting market translation and implementation working closely with global stakeholders.

  • Analyze automated flows and test new flows aimed to improve customer experience and increase retention.

  • Create and manage local incentive campaigns to boost user engagement.

  • Promote exclusive partnerships and nationwide enterprises while maintaining Wolt's tone of voice and brand messaging.

  • Conduct cohort user analysis to gain insights into user behavior and preferences, directing future marketing efforts.

2. In-app content optimization:

  • Identify opportunities for user discovery and engagement by leading app and content management efforts.

  • Develop guidelines and implement strategies for content management and prioritization based on best practices to enhance user experiences, optimize conversion and drive user loyalty.

  • Prioritize and manage business verticals and internal stakeholders to achieve retention goals.

  • Own research, testing, and strategy to surface the most relevant content for customer cohorts

3. Referral Channel:

  • Optimize the referral program as a channel for user acquisition and retention.

  • Innovate and find new ways to attract new users to Wolt through referral campaigns.

  • Continuously monitor and analyze the success of referral initiatives, making data-driven improvements.

4. Wolt+:

  • Develop the plan for owned marketing channels that ladder up to business goals 

  • Develop and execute 360 campaigns to grow the Wolt+ subscription model on paid, owned and earned media. 

  • Monitor cohort user behavior to develop refined CRM strategies and messaging

Our expectations

  • You have 6+ years proven experience in retention marketing, CRM, and user engagement strategies, including leading a team to drive business results while working closely with both global and local stakeholders on all seniority levels.

  • Expertise with in-app and content optimization and user experience enhancement. Familiarity with referral program management and growth tactics is a nice to have.

  • Proven analytical approach and data driven approach to understanding customer experience opportunities, running tests to improve the experience, and graduating improved experiences across the customer base.

  • You are a reliable team player with the ability to deliver results on time and successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously thanks to excellent project and prioritization skills.

  • You are structured, detailed, and service-oriented and you can use this experience to scale efforts in a manageable way.

  • You have a proactive mentality - an independent thinker who can work with limited guidance but can deliver a successful outcome through grit and determination.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills with the ability to adapt the tone to suit the audience, internally and externally. 

  • Prior experience with hyperlocal marketing is a plus.

  • Prior experience in a fast-moving environment with a strong focus on achieving targets and getting things done.

  • Good knowledge of B2C marketing, eCommerce, and branding is an advantage.

  • Fluent in English and Business German (at least certified B2)
