Wolt is made by 10 000+ dedicated people, over twenty of which handle our comms and PR. The team is now looking for a Head of Consumer Communications to join the fun and challenging space of communications and PR. The comms team helps all of our 27 countries handle their media relations, owns Wolt’s internal communications as well as, partner communications and proactive communications for our new offerings.

Our media relations team is responsible for our external communications, often handling inbound media requests and supporting the local business by sharing compelling stories with the media, launching new partnerships, cities or verticals, as well as dealing with different kinds of situations proactively and reactively.

We’re now looking for a Head of Consumer Comms to elevate our global consumer communications efforts through creatively sharing stories from different areas within Wolt, utilizing data to create memorable moments, creating interesting partnerships, as well as training and working with new spokespeople. 

We’re looking for a creative communicator who thinks internationally and is able to understand the local context. This person should think content and digital first, and aim to discover opportunities across multiple areas at Wolt to share with the outside world – be it product updates, marketing campaigns, sponsorships or business partnerships that are newsworthy and interesting for the broader consumer audience. If you love crafting creative content for consumers - to share on our own channels and in  lifestyle media - you might be who we’re looking for. 

You will play a critical role in driving the way we communicate towards consumers, and work closely with our marketing & brand team, global operations as well as be an integral part of the Communications team. The hired person reports to our VP of Communications who is based at our HQ in Helsinki.  

Responsibilities & Duties 

  • Own end-to-end global consumer communications efforts, encompassing story creation, influencer engagement, social content and developing templates and visuals for our international markets, while establishing internal KPIs and reporting mechanisms. 
  • Assess Wolt’s global markets to categorize them by maturity to create playbooks and best practices for the local communications managers accordingly, as well as customize consumer campaigns, ranging from comprehensive multimedia pushes in major markets to more targeted campaigns in others.
  • Collaborate closely with global & local marketing and brand teams to build compelling consumer-facing multi-media PR campaigns that can be rolled out globally and/or tailored across our 27 markets - spanning seasonal moments like Valentine’s Day, Back-to-School or Halloween, as well as significant updates to the consumer application and  launches of new business lines and merchants on our platform. 
  • Own the consumer communications calendar and prioritize which opportunities our global media relations team should concentrate on. 
  • Identify trends in popular culture that Wolt could leverage in communications efforts and maximize engagement with target audiences. 
  • Provide support to the media relations team in elevating their PR efforts from local to  international, exploring opportunities to tie in local market happenings into broader, international campaigns.
  • Leave no stone unturned to discover compelling consumer stories by building strong relationships with the product, analytics, marketing & brand and operations teams.
  • Build a knowledge hub for our media relations team across our markets, including data sets and visuals to enhance their consumer communications efforts.

  • Proven experience in successfully developing and executing international consumer communications campaigns. 
  • 10+ years experience in consumer communications/ PR at an agency or in-house. Demonstrated leadership abilities in managing complex projects and teams. 
  • Ability to motivate and inspire the broader communications team, across reporting lines, to put more effort into consumer comms.
  • Experience working in an international environment and with multiple stakeholders. 
  • Creative thinker and storyteller. Passionate about culture and news with a finger always on the pulse. 
  • Stellar writing skills in English. Other languages are a plus. 
  • Strategic and critical thinker & precise executor. 
  • Background in technology or local commerce platforms is a plus.  
  • Great organizational skills.
  • High level of independent thinking and acting.
  • Ability to occasionally travel abroad.
