“Just Be Yourself” - Juuli’s Journey from Intern to Marketing Specialist at Wolt

Meet Gen Z-er Juuli, who has charted a career path starting from tiny Maaninka, Finland (population: very, very small) through Helsinki and now to Berlin.
Juuli originally joined Wolt as an intern – and she clearly caught on quickly because she’s since been hired full time as a marketing specialist in the Wolt Ads team. Congratulations, Juuli!
So how did she get hired, what was her experience like as an intern, and what lessons has she learned about Wolt and – more importantly – herself? Read on to find out more about the very cool life (so far) of our self-described “extroverted introvert” Juuli.
Hello 👋 Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do at Wolt.
Hi, I'm Juuli! I'm originally from a small village in the northeastern part of Finland called Maaninka, which is near the city of Kuopio. I moved to Berlin two years ago for my studies and was lucky enough to get hired for the Wolt Ads team as a product marketing and communications intern.
This past August I got hired for a full-time position as a marketing specialist in the Wolt Ads team.
Woot! Congratulations!
Thanks!
So what got you interested in Wolt?
I would say that I’ve been admiring Wolt for a long time. I felt like the app and the whole company were so human to me. I’ve always loved that marketing is the perfect mix of creativity and business.
Of course I’ve also been a huge user of the app, starting from Kuopio through Helsinki and down to Berlin!
What was the process of joining like?
I was working for a Finnish startup in Berlin when I saw a LinkedIn post for a Wolt internship. I felt like the position was a perfect opportunity to grow and develop myself.
First, I had a call with TA for around 30 minutes, so they could get to know me. After that, it was a call with my future team lead, and then another call with the global head of advertising. That was the process, and it all went so quickly!
One thing that really sticks out in my mind about the process was how in every interview people were telling me to just be myself. I wasn’t being measured or tested on what I did – and didn’t – know because I didn’t have much experience yet. The whole hiring process felt so welcoming, and it already then told me that this was a job where I could grow and be myself.
Love to hear that! So tell us about your role.
I work in the Wolt Ads team, supporting product marketing across 30+ countries. We help merchants and brands get visibility on the Wolt platform, and increasingly outside of the platform as well.
My role is to basically shape how we communicate Wolt ads internally and externally. If there is a new product or feature launch, I create sales enablement materials like one-page documents, emails, internal Slack announcements, you name it. I’ve also worked on web landing pages.

How does what you’re doing now compare to your intern role?
You know what, it’s actually the same type of role. That’s the really cool thing about when I joined as an intern – I was given a lot of responsibility right from the very beginning.
I got my hands dirty right away. My first project when I joined Wolt was creating landing pages, and I’m still doing that work now.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Right, so on Mondays we always meet with my team lead to catch up with everything and see what’s coming during the week. We also meet with the marketing team to do the same.
But after that, I have to say that every day is different and depends on what’s on the table at that moment. This is one of the best things about the job – no two days are the same. Right now I’m working on sales enablement plans for one product launch, and we also have a merchant winner contest coming. I'm creating materials for those right now – coming up with the unique selling points, pitch decks, one-pagers and how-to tutorials.
How would you sum up your experience at Wolt so far?
I’ve never worked in such a big company before, and what’s surprising here is how every person is super nice, friendly and willing to help. Everyone is doing their work with kindness, and I really appreciate that. My team is amazing and supportive.
Things move very quickly here, and timelines are always changing, but I got used to it pretty quickly and can handle the pressure well. I really enjoy the moments when I’m learning something new or when I see something I’ve done before and find a way to improve on it. That way I can see how I have developed. It’s really exciting.

What might be next for you?
I feel that marketing really suits me well because I’m a creative person, so I want to develop myself further in the field. Beyond that, I don’t have any concrete next steps in mind yet, but hopefully the future includes Wolt Ads because it’s growing and it really interests me.
Have you surprised yourself in any way since joining Wolt?
As a Gen Zer, I’m sometimes surprised to find myself working in such a big company and doing all sorts of cool tasks by myself. I sometimes have these kinds of ‘wow!’ moments.
I would describe myself as an ‘extroverted introvert’, so when I started here in Berlin in such a big office there were definitely moments where I felt a bit nervous. But I just kept telling myself that I’m here for a reason, I’m good enough, and I would remind myself that the people around me have years of experience under their belt. It’s OK not to know everything, and I’m learning every day.
If you could go back and tell your younger self anything, what would it be?
I would say keep on being curious and asking questions. And speak up!
Perfect! So, who would make a good Wolt intern?
Someone who is open to learning. I really emphasize this a lot. The company wants everyone to be open to learning – and teaching others as well. And if I had to give a tip, it would be to be yourself, show your curiosity and be open to new challenges. Don't think you have to know everything. You will learn.
It's amazing in Wolt that you are trusted from day one, and the company really gives you the space to grow and learn, and it will support you.
