Wolt is looking for a Senior Python Backend Engineer to join the Purchase Core team. The team is responsible for improving and taking ownership of the complete purchase lifecycle in the core of Wolt’s consumer backend. Purchase Core is currently filled with Wolt veterans as well as rising stars, and we’re looking for more!

The recently launched Purchase Core team is taking ownership of purchases, a core concept in Wolt’s backend. As part of the team, you will get right into the guts of Wolt’s systems and work towards building a solid technical foundation which other teams can build upon. The team is responsible for developing back-end components with a balanced touch of writing code, DevOps, and software reliability engineering (SRE), all while maintaining and continuously improving the scalability and robustness of our systems. Examples of tasks you will work on include extracting parts of a monolith into a new service, building internal APIs for other teams, and optimizing old flows inside the backend to be more efficient and scalable.

We have a strong Python community at Wolt and modern Python (FastAPI, Flask) is our bread and butter. We are looking for someone with a strong professional background in building backend services using Python (or similar technologies) and delivering modern, testable and maintainable code. In addition we expect high emotional intelligence, a willingness to take ownership beyond the obvious, motivation to learn new things and to teach others, and a willingness to collaborate with different teams across the organization.

Aside from technology, we expect you to be a product-oriented problem solver, a good communicator, willing to collaborate with people in- and outside of your own team, and keen to bring up issues in a constructive manner to the team and to Wolt at large. We work with high ownership in small teams where each team member works around the whole software development life cycle. Each and every one of our product team members has a say in where we are going and what solutions we implement.

The compensation is a combination of monthly pay and equity. The latter makes it exceptionally easy to be excited about our company growing and doing well, as you'll own a piece of the pie. 🙌
