We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help grow our brand new AdTech team. The AdTech team has the awesome responsibility of creating an advertising platform that will allow brands and merchants to connect with our highly engaged audience through our food delivery and other verticals.

As a Senior Backend Engineer in this brand new team, you'll have the opportunity to grow with us and tackle unique challenges as we build and scale our advertising platform. You'll play a key part in defining how the team works, participating in architecture and CI/CD discussions, and deciding on tools and best practices. You'll also collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and other engineers on the team. In addition, you’ll get the opportunities to work alongside our colleagues at DoorDash as we build a unified advertising platform between our two companies.

We're all about high ownership teams at Wolt, which means you'll have the freedom and accountability to shape the direction of the AdTech team. This includes being involved in defining our technical and product roadmaps, building services and products, and solving challenges ranging from new feature development to core scalability.

This role can be based in one of our tech hubs in Helsinki, Stockholm or Berlin, or you can work remotely anywhere in Finland, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, and Estonia. Read more about our remote setup here. 🌍

We're looking for someone with a strong professional background in building backend services using Kotlin or similar technologies and delivering modern, testable, and maintainable code.  While Kotlin knowledge isn't a requirement, it's a valuable asset for candidates to have. 

Our services are hosted in AWS and we use Docker & K8s for CI/CD pipelines, with PostgreSQL and Redis as our data storage.

In addition to technical skills, we expect a willingness to take ownership beyond the obvious, motivation to learn new things together and to teach others, and a willingness to collaborate with different teams across the organization.

Experience with large-scale integrations and data engineering would also be highly appreciated.
