The Wolt Drive team is looking for an experienced engineering team lead to help create the best product on the market for offering instant local deliveries in merchants’ own sales channels.  

Wolt Drive enables our partners to offer fast Wolt delivery for orders from their own channels. The Drive Core team is responsible for the public API that partners use, as well as for the core internal tooling our operations use to manage the services. The team has a unique view over the whole stack of Wolt, offering difficult architectural challenges for senior engineers who love them. 

As an engineering team lead in Drive you would be responsible for the well-being of our engineers as well as play a crucial part in hiring and building the team to its full size during 2023. The team includes a variety of competencies, including React frontend, Python backend, as well as native iOS and Android. The domain also by nature includes a lot of cross-team collaboration, and the combination of a wide tech stack with cross-team projects is why we are looking for someone experienced, who can ensure the team keeps building great things.

Ownership: We handle the whole development process (business logic, testing, database & data streaming, CI/CD, analytics, cloud) ourselves in an autonomous manner. Don’t worry, we’re not alone: We have support from central teams when we need help.

📍This role can be based in one of our tech hubs in Helsinki, Berlin or Stockholm, or you can work remotely anywhere in Finland, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, and Estonia. Who you are:

Skilled: Since the team handles a wide variety of tech stacks, we are not looking for any specific technologies. However, we expect a deep understanding of software architectures and a generalist attitude toward learning more. Your background can be in backend, frontend or mobile, as long as you have a deep interest in all things engineering, and the ability to coach team members. We use Mongo, Kafka, Flask, and a gazillion other things, and you will learn them because you already have experience with so many other technologies.

Communicator & collaborator: We work closely with our teammates and having a good connection with team members is essential. We understand that everyone has their own unique way of communicating with others. We expect you to be yourself, express your opinions, and work together with the rest of the team.

Servant leader: You have experience leading engineers, and have a coaching attitude. You have ideas and suggestions on how to improve the ways of working of a team, and always strive for continuous improvement.
