We have an exciting opportunity in our Product development group for experienced Engineering Team Leads. As the team in Japan matures we have need for a talented leader to join the team here and take on the JP Enterprise team.

Enterprise is hugely important in Japan - in many of our other countries, a large Merchant might have in the ~hundreds of venues. In Japan, Enterprise chains such as 7-11 can have over 20,000 stores! This completely changes the way we approach our business relationship and tooling - we need tools and interfaces that support thousands of venues (a simple drop-down won’t do), we need to support their business operations via detailed dashboards, and automate as much of the manual work as possible to make things like menu changes and campaigns manageable. We also work with our DoorDash counterparts in the US to learn as much as possible from what has been built for the US market in the Enterprise space.

The team has been up and running for some time now so you’ll be inheriting a high performing team in an interesting problem domain. The role is based in the Tokyo office so while we expect you to be located in the Tokyo area, we provide relocation support to help you make your way to Japan.

You know what it takes to develop top-quality software, take care of people and achieve ambitious goals together. You'll be an inspirer, facilitator and enabler for the team to do what they do best by making personal development plans, hosting regular 1on1s and taking part in recruitment. You're not afraid to step into action when needed, and most of the time, you are also ready to step back and let the team do its magic. We expect you to be a good communicator, willing to serve people outside of your team, and a product-oriented and proactive problem solver willing to bring up issues in a constructive manner to the team and the whole Wolt Product team.

The essential tasks in this role are facilitation, communication, helping high performing engineers to focus and bringing them context. But if you are one of those unicorns with leadership abilities & development skills, there could be room for hands-on contribution as well! Our teams work with e.g. Kotlin (Spring Boot), Python (Flask & FastAPI), TypeScript, React, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Kafka, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, AWS, Docker and Kubernetes so we also value skills with any of these.

The compensation will be a combination of monthly pay and DoorDash RSU’s. The latter makes it exceptionally easy to be excited about our company growing and doing well, as you’ll own a piece of the pie.
