This role can be based in our tech hub in Helsinki or remotely elsewhere in Finland.

The Wolt for Work team is looking for a python backend engineer to join the team in creating the best service on the market for our business customers. We strive to make lives just a bit better every day by expanding Wolt from personal lives to our everyday work. This includes features ranging from team lunches to events to lunch card payments - all built with Woltgrade quality. We are tired of mediocre user experiences in the tools we use at work and want to replace them with the quality we see in consumer applications. 

In the team you would be contributing to customer facing features, our admin tooling, as well as to internal tools such as invoicing and payment processes. You would both improve existing features and codebases as well as start new projects and design and implement them with the team. The role is aimed at someone who is not completely new to the industry, but still sees room to grow professionally.

Ownership: We handle the whole development process (business logic, testing, database & data streaming, CI/CD, analytics, cloud) ourselves in an autonomous manner. Don’t worry, we’re not alone: We have support from central teams when we need help.

Autonomy: We make the decisions as a team. We are free to choose the technology stack and tools and make architectural decisions as a team. Team leads are there to serve the teams and be the best they can be. No top-down decisions!

Growth: There is a lot of room for learning, teaching and growing together. We will support you with the tools and materials you need. Autonomy and ownership enable you to make decisions that in traditional companies are reserved for highly experienced architects - with the support of your team and experienced engineers all around the company, of course. 

Flexibility: You can choose whether you want to work fully remote, from the office or hybrid. It’s up to you and we don’t monitor people. We have a dedicated relocation partner to help you move to either Finland or Germany. If you are currently living in Estonia, Denmark or Sweden there is no need for you to relocate should you want to work from home but we will help you if you do want to move.

Hands-on: We are looking for an individual who has several years of experience but still yearns to grow further. We want you to be already proficient with Python and prepared to learn also some Kotlin. We are looking for experience in the whole lifecycle of software development, for example, API design, clean code, unit testing, or DevOps. Technologies such as AWS, PostgreSQL, Mongo, Kafka, gRPC, Kubernetes and others are a bonus. Most importantly, at Wolt we value skill and impact, not the number of years on your CV.
